The 38" deck that was on 1985 JD180 that I just finished had a belt tension release lever on the right rear (sitting on the tractor) corner of the deck. This lever was swung in under the tractor to remove or install the belt, and once the belt was in position, this lever was swung back outward, where it sort of "over-centered" via the big ....
